by Abacus Group, on Oct 6, 2020

The philanthropic west coast investment conference features leading portfolio managers presenting their best investment ideas while raising funds to support non-profit organizations focused on improving educational opportunities for underserved youth in the Bay area.

SAN FRANCISCO, October 6, 2020 – Abacus Group is pleased to announce its support as a sponsor for the 11th Annual SohnX San Francisco Investment Conference, a philanthropic event organized by the Excellence in Investing Foundation. Going virtual for this year, the west coast financial industry gathering is being held online October 6 from 1 to 4pm PT.

The premiere Bay Area investor event brings together highly successful portfolio managers, private investors and asset allocators of all levels to learn from the insights and expertise of highly successful portfolio managers, with conference proceeds supporting Bay Area organizations focused on improving educational opportunities and life outcomes for underserved youth.

“We have been a long-standing sponsor of SohnX San Francisco for many years and we’re honored to continue the tradition this year, being part of the virtual event,” said Chris Grandi, CEO of Abacus Group. “We’re always honored to support the great philanthropic work of the Excellence in Investing Foundation.”

Although a virtual session can never replace the experience of our annual communal gathering, it’s an affirmation that the mission to provide financial support to our beneficiaries has never been more pressing,” said Pete Lardner, Board Chair of the Excellence in Investing in Children’s Causes Foundation. “This year’s funding recipients don’t have the ability to cancel or postpone their mission of providing education and support to the children in our most challenged communities. So our goal is to continue to support them as best we can under the circumstances.”

SohnX is a new global initiative created with the goal of carrying the Sohn Conference Foundation’s mission of doing business while doing good into the virtual world,” said Evan Sohn, Vice President and Co-founder of The Sohn Conference Foundation. “The SohnX initiative seeks to empower local organizers, scale event accessibility, and promote valuable philanthropic work with all proceeds going directly towards cutting-edge research and community programs.”

This year’s conference speaker line-up includes investors from Canyon Partners LLC, Light Street Capital, No Street Capital, SoMa Equity Partners and Oaktree Capital Management.

In 2019 the Conference raised more than $320,000 to benefit Community Education Partnerships (http://www.cep.ngo/), Life Learning Academy (www.lifelearningacademysf.org) and Bridge the Gap College Prep (www.btgcollegeprep.org/).
